Somewhere Only We Know

I Glee.

What more can I say? Diligently after the latest episodes of season 2 at the moment, this song is my newly discovered craze. The lyrics are beautiful, and the original is by Keane.

In episode 18, Blaine sings it to Kurt (lucky devil!) when the latter returns to his old school for good. Really really romantic... *sigh*

I think it's almost every girl's dream to have someone serenade them like that and I'm no exception!

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete

Oh simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?

Oh simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
[From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/k/keane-lyrics/somewhere-only-we-know-lyrics.html ]

And if you have a minute, why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know

Oh simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

And if you have a minute, why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go? So why don't we go?

Oh, this could be the end of everything
So why don't we go somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know
Somewhere only we know

D.R.E.A.M.

May and I have been working really hard on this little project that is still under wraps at the moment. And I can only pray and beg that things will turn out alright.

You know sometimes the world looks at you and think that there's nothing much you can achieve? Or they think that even if you set your heart to some things, you just aren't made for success? Well, I've been feeling this way recently, with some of the people closest to me making me feel that dreams are not meant for people of my caliber.

I've never ever denied the need to work hard, be it when I was in school or during my working years. I tried to give my best in everything, wishing that one day I could shut those verbal attackers from  school up. I wasn't the most popular kid out there, nor was I prom queen material, but I was driven, I was focused, I was disciplined, and I managed to hit higher than where I aimed -- the clouds. That was when I was still studying.

Just 10 years down the road, I'm barely a somebody, and with the same set of drive, focus and discipline, I'm just hoping that it would take me somewhere. Maybe this mindset is expired, neither does it apply to people looming around 30, but I'm still pretty set on taking myself some place, having it all -- being a good wife, a good mom, and having a career that motivates me.

Someday, just someday, I want to be the living example to my children:

'As a means to success, determination has this advantage over talent - that it does not have to be recognized by others.'  ~ Robert Brault

Of Roller Coasters and Neverland

Over the weekend, 6 of us made an impromptu trip down to Singapore. Vuitton managed to get good rates for one of the hotels near Marina Bay, so we thought, why not? We've never really visited that place since it was opened for business anyway.

So on Friday evening, braving the bad traffic after the heavy downpour, we made our way down to Malacca to swap ourselves an Alphard. Vuitton's parents were so kind as to buy us a nice Malay dinner ala kampung style. Yummy. Seafood's my all-time fave so for me it was a big big bonus.

One grilled fish, 2 plates of otak-otak and several plates of BBQ-ed prawns and crabs later, we continued our journey.

The hotel had a pretty awesome view, day or night.

View from our room: Singapore Eye at night

View from our room: Singapore Eye in the day

View from our room: The grandeur of Marina Bay Sands
The next two days were spent pretty much on a leeeetle bit of shopping, and for the boys some casino donations.

We also headed to Resorts World at Sentosa, which was basically Genting in Singapore. But I must say that Universal Studios was pretty impressive.

Jadey couldn't wait for us to pay
May catching a funny shot of me
Colourful Cushions!
World's best popcorn... I can testify to that!

The Cylon and Human roller-coaster intertwines. Yes I know I was chicken s#!t coz I didn't dare go on it!
The same night, Ken Ji took us to a Thai club which he insisted was NOT DODGY. Un-dodgy as he made it sound, the club was located at the top floor of Orchard Plaza -- one of the 3 legalized red light districts in the whole of Singapore. Haha. But sure enough, that place was pretty harmless, aptly named Neverland. Sounds like a child's playground, doesn't it?

Time simply flew by. Before we knew it, the trip had ended. But we all decided unanimously that a  group weekend trip to Singapore every 6-monthly is food for the soul. Well, I guess we can take that literally coz we did down quite a bit of good chomps this time :)

No Greater Love

A very good friend of mine prepared this video for me 3 years ago, it was a very meaningful birthday blessing.

Since today's Good Friday, I've decided to share this with you. This beautiful song is by Rachel Lampa, and it tells of how Jesus gave His life to cover all of our sins.

I've been helping my father-in-law with video editing of the show The Passion of the Christ for the past week, and it's had me rewatching the whole movie several times. Till this day, I cannot bear to watch Jesus get nailed in the hands and feet (each time that happens I hide behind the pillow). The amount of torture that He had to go through for all of us... the flagellation, the crown of thorns, the mocking and most of all, the crucifixion. Are we really worthy?

BKK

It's just another 14 hours before I depart for the land of Thab Thim Krobs and Pad Thais... *yums*

One of my faithful readers has suggested that I could afford to enlarge my fonts a little, so Khoay Ling, here it is! :)

Will try to take lots and lots of interesting (or hopefully artistic) photos to share with you. Till then, have a great weekend!
